A land of refuge, the C\u00e9vennes are renowned for their exceptional landscapes, their authenticity and their nature. The C\u00e9vennes is a great place to discover and meet people, stretching across several d\u00e9partements: Gard and Loz\u00e8re for the most part (most of the Parc National des C\u00e9vennes is in Loz\u00e8re), but also Ard\u00e8che and H\u00e9rault.\u00a0<\/p>

From Mont Loz\u00e8re to Mont Aigoual, the C\u00e9vennes are a succession of wild high plateaux, ridges and valleys, offering sumptuous and varied panoramas. The region also boasts some remarkable villages: Pont-de-Montvert, Saint-Jean-du-Gard, strongly influenced by Protestantism, and the medieval villages of Sauve, V\u00e9z\u00e9nobres and La Garde-Gu\u00e9rin. A land of craftsmen and artists, the C\u00e9vennes have preserved ancestral skills such as fork-making in Sauve and vase-making in Anduze. Their rich past is palpable in the collections on display at Maison Rouge, the Mus\u00e9e des vall\u00e9es c\u00e9venoles in Saint-Jean-du-Gard, or the Mus\u00e9e du D\u00e9sert, dedicated to the tumultuous history of the Protestants. Gourmet delights are also on show, with chestnuts, C\u00e9vennes onions, V\u00e9z\u00e9nobres figs and the creamy P\u00e9lardon cheese, to be enjoyed with a good C\u00e9vennes PGI wine. To fully appreciate the beauty of the landscape, there's nothing like taking one of the many day-long or multi-day hiking trails, such as the famous Chemin de Stevenson (GR\u00ae70).<\/p>

With more than 1,600 km of trails, accessible on foot and partly on horseback and mountain bike, the itineraries can be adapted to suit all levels and tastes.
